Final Bastion’s Guide to
Wizard101 Hoard and Lore Packs
This article serves as a guide that highlights some of the finest drops attainable from the various Hoard and Lore packs found in Wizard101. Thus, no gardening, furniture or jewel packs are listed below. These are purely our opinions and can very much differ from any of yours. We would very much love to hear your opinions in the comments section below. We also linked the pack guides for each pack we’ve published in the past for you to get a more in depth look on the items you can find within.
What is the difference between a Hoard and a Lore Pack?
While this may vary from time to time, the general idea is that Lore Packs are intended for spells and Hoard for mounts. Lore packs tend to have about 3 unique lore spells found within that can initially be obtained exclusively from this pack alone. Typically, after a certain amount of time has gone by, spells are obtainable via spellements and/or made craftable.
On the other hand, Hoard packs tend to contain a mount or a set of mounts exclusive to the pack alone. After a long period of time, the mount may be added as a drop on a skeleton key boss. However, this is not always the case.
Super and Combo Packs
As a recent twist Kingsisle has been introducing combo and super packs for a very limited time. This acts sort of like a sale or promotion on specific packs including retired ones. Combo packs are when two packs are literally smashed into one. Thus, anything you can obtain from each pack can be obtained in this single limited time pack. For instance, we briefly witnessed the Witch’s and Pharaoh’s Hoard Combo Pack. Super packs are those with slightly higher odds of obtaining the rarest items found within such as spells and mounts.
Is this how packs always work?
No. As a recent trend in 2020, we’ve been seeing more and more changes to how packs work. What I am referring to is the addition of the Sinbad and Doomsday Krok Hoard Packs. These are pretty much regular hoard packs that you can purchase from the Crown Shop. However, they have a matching gauntlet (house dungeon) that drops most of the same items found within the pack.
This dungeon can be either purchased as a bundle from the online store or crafted with reagents that you get exclusively from the pack. Keep in mind that you can still make use of a friend’s gauntlet if you can’t get one yourself. Thus, most items you get from the packs can be acquired for free with a little perseverance.
