Wizard101 Best Level 130 Balance Gear

What’s the best gear for a max level Balance Wizard (currently level 130)?  We’ve seen this question many times, so we’ve provided our recommendations below, in a format to help you compare options.

We’ll take a moment to review our criteria first, since the “best” gear depends on your role and objectives.

Looking for the best gear for other schools?

Our Criteria

We consider the gear listed below the best for a max level Balance Wizard if you are:

  • Questing by yourself (solo)
  • Questing in a group & playing the role of a hitter, or
  • Playing PvP in an offensive or traditional role

If you are questing in a group and playing a support role (i.e., buffing the wizard that is going to hit and/or healing) or if you are playing a very defensive PvP strategy, we assume you are more interested in global resist and outgoing healing.  We suggest that you check out Cody’s guide on gear with the best outgoing healing, as it includes several high-resist gear options as well.

There are three types of recommendations, depending on your focus:

1. Damage Focus

Typically used against opponents with high block, such as bosses.

  • Primary objective is to maximize damage
  • Secondary objectives are power pips, accuracy and pierce

2. Critical Focus

Typically used against opponents with low block, such as mobs.  Some PvP builds focus on high critical as well.

  • Primary objective is critical
  • Secondary objectives are damage, power pips and accuracy

3. Balanced

Typically used in PvP or against bosses that hit hard (e.g., Storm Titan anyone?):

  • Primary objective is to provide decent damage and several helpful stats, including universal resist, power pips, accuracy, pierce and important jewel sockets
  • Many balanced items contain some critical, although it’s typically not a “critical” objective (pun intended)

      aight so a small thing but may help some people the proffessors hoard pack has some good balanced gear as i myself use the alhazred boots because they are very balanced at level 130 so i suggest upgrading to them from the sabatons of the exalted one.

      can’t you get rid of the robe for the corporal tennisyn robe, and then switch one of the pet talents for balance giver?

      The max damage and max critical is wrong! I have a triple damage triple critical pet and i have 145 damage with max critical. Please fix this before everyone misreads this, balance isnt this weak.

      Hi there, I am Jose and have been a Balance Wizard for many years. I have inspired other players to create a Balance wizard. My max Balance Wizard is what I would call a well-rounded wizard. Hat: Krokopatra Justice Fez, Robe: Virtuous Light Brigade Armor, Boots: Dragoon’s Balanced Boots, Wand: Admiral’s Boarding Hook (+6% incoming heal), Athame: Athame of the Chosen One (+125 HP, 2 x +6% Balance Pierce, +10% Pip Chance), Amulet: Dragoon’s Balanced Charm (+125 HP, +6% incoming heal), Ring: Dragoon’s Balanced Ring (+125 HP, +6% incoming Heal, +6% Balance Pierce), Deck: Balanced Paradox Deck (+12% Balance Accuracy), and for mount and pet, that is up to you. I use the Mammoth Mini mount for the heal boost and my pet the Flamenco Tocador (Availing Hands x 3, Pain-Giver, Spell-Defy, Spell-Proof, Unicorn, Healing Current, and jewel, Balance Dealer). If possible I would change it to having Pain-Giver, Balance-Dealer, Spell-Proof, Unicorn, Healing Current, and jewel, Spell-Defy + MC Brace.

      I was wondering if you could post a sample build for the best well-rounded build. I know this is objective and opinionated, but it would be nice to see what people would aim for as a “well-rounded” balance build to have good resist while maintaining good damage and decent critical.

              While that is true, the stat differences make the virtuous armor better.

              look at their stats side to side. If someone picks glorious avenging armor, they’re clearly missing out on health, power pip chance, accuracy, shadow pip chance, even more critical, and a lot of resist.

              I would not recommend someone to make that kind of decision for 3% extra damage that wont make a difference. But if you want to be technical about the max damage, I would at least include this armor as an option to get better stats by sacrificing 3 damage.

      For the 100% critical and max damage build does the sparkling jewel with 17 critical work for all three sockets or is the 18 critical sparkling critical jewel needed.

        In order to achieve 100% critical at level 130, you need 837 critical total.

        I agree and instead of Glorious Avenger’s Armor they should have placed Virtuous Light Bragade Armor

          Hi Christopher. Glorious Avenger’s Armor has 3% more damage than the Virtuous Light Brigade Armor. It was used in the second sample build since the objective is to show the max damage you can achieve while maintaining 100% critical.

          In terms of which Robe you’d typically use, seems like we’re in agreement, since we recommended the Virtuous Light Brigade Armor (along with the Drape of the Exalted One).

        I agree and instead of Glorious Avenger’s Armor they should have placed Virtuous Light Bragade Armor because of more damage

        The pet stats on the critical build is wrong. The balance critical shouldn’t be that high.

          What’s wrong about it? I’ve got a pet showing 57 balance critical and it’s not even max stats.
