Takanobu The Masterless
Cave of Solitude Skeleton Key Boss
The Summer 2022 update began a massive change in Wizard101’s skeleton key bosses. Wooden and stone keys are being phased out and gold keys will be the primary way to unlock all the new key bosses. Gold keys will mainly be found through events and as drops from existing key bosses. The update has introduced 10 new key bosses. Four of these are brand new, while the other six are old key bosses revamped with a higher difficulty. In this article we will cover Takanobu the Masterless, now back and stronger then ever!
Boss Location
Takanobu can be found in the Cave Of Solitude in Mooshu. Simply take the blue teleporter and the sigil can be found after a short walk down the path.
Key Type
One major change to this boss is that it will now require a gold skeleton key rather than a wooden key.
Know your Enemy!
After passing through the skeleton key gate, you will run into Takanobu and his Bladeless Ronin minions. Here are the basics:
- Tier 4 – Levels 110+ – Takanobu is Rank 20 and has 11,300 health. The minions are Rank 19 and have 5,620 health.
- Tier 3 – Levels 51-109 – Takanobu is Rank 14 and has 7,530 health. The minions are Rank 13 and have 3,750 health.
- Tier 2 – Levels 46-50 – Takanobu is Rank 9 and has 4,480 health. The minions are Rank 8 and have 2,225 health.
- Tier 1 – Levels 1-45 – Takanobu is Rank 6 and has 4,480 health. The minions are Rank 6 and have 2,225 health.
Cheats
Strategy
Once you know the cheats, the strategy for this fight is fairly straightforward. Since blades will be disarmed, using some traps such as Feints will be very useful. This fight could easily be done in 1-2 turns by spamming some feints on the boss for your hitter to utilize.
Drops
As of the Summer 2023 update, Takanobu no longer drops the Catch of the Day spell. However, he now drops Catch of the Day spellements instead.
As well as this, spellements from the Ninja’s Spellemental Pack can be obtained from this battle. The battle will drop around 16 spellements including Ninja Pigs, Samoorai, and Goat Monk. Interested in upgrading your guild house? The Azoth treasure card can also be found here.

Badge
Lastly, the badge Master Of The Masterless can also be obtained for your first time defeating the boss.
