Catmandu Sanctuary Bundle

Another Wizard101 Bundle is here, and this time we are exploring the new world of Novus with the Catmandu Sanctuary Bundle! If you’re a cat person, this is definitely the bundle for you! Similar to its predecessors, the Catmandu Sanctuary Bundle Gift Card costs $39 from Gamestop. For that price, we get some feline-themed gear, a beautiful Castle, and a new pet and mount! Each piece celebrates a new friend in Novus, from Acolyte Ang to Zheng. The entire contents of the bundle are:

  • Cat Monk Attire
  • Sacred Yarn Staff
  • Lucky Cat Pet
  • Zheng Mount
  • Catmandu Sanctuary House
  • 1 Additional Castle Elixir
  • 5,000 Crowns or one month membership

Cat Monk Attire

If you love cats or Mooshu-themed gear, you will certainly love the Cat Monk Attire. Personally, I think it looks adorable! It also lets you match outfits with Acolyte Ang from Catmandu. As usual, the gear is tiered for every 10 levels, up to the current max level 150.

The stats themselves are decent, but underwhelming. At level 150+, the gear stats are not as good as their Merciless counterparts. Even the level 90+ gear is not as good as level 60 school-specific Waterworks gear. One advantage is that the damage is universal, so may be useful in fights like Lady Stonegaze, where universal stats are crucial. Ultimately, this gear is mostly cosmetic or collectable.

As you can see, from level 30+ and above, the gear pieces come with cat-related utility cards. Depending on the level you choose, you may receive the spellemented Fire Cat, or its Death, Storm, and Ice versions. From level 60-80+, the sandals offer Polymorph Bandit, but this is replaced at level 90-120+ for Mokompo, and at level 130-150+ for Sinbad.

Sacred Yarn Staff

The Sacred Yarn Staff perfectly completes the Cat Monk outfit. The stats are decent, but don’t quite match up to the current best gear options. From level 10+, the Staff offers an extra starting pip, which is invaluable at that level. The spell cards are similar to that from other bundle wands, with Balance wand hits and a small heal card. Interestingly, the Cat Nap spell (level 10-150+) stuns the caster for one round after healing. From level 30-50+, the Fire Cat spell is also given. From level 60-100+, this is replaced by Shift Thornpaw, and at level 110-150+ this is replaced by Shift Meowiarty. If you hadn’t guessed it by now, the theme is definitely cats!

Lucky Cat Pet

As a lover of cats, the Lucky Cat pet is the most adorable pet ever! This chubby kitty will trot admiringly beside you, knead the floor, and occasionally stop for a Big Yawn. I love the Lucky Cat’s stubby little legs and adoring eyes. It is definitely a must-have for any collectors of cute pets! The talents are geared towards energy and fishing, and it also gives two Mythic Fuel cards (one at Baby and one at Adult), which could be useful.

Zheng Mount

If you’ve already quested in Novus, you will know Zheng. Now is our chance to travel with him permanently! This mythical beast seems to be the perfect blend between Mooshu and the weird new world of Novus. He’s got 5 tails, a scary smile, and will occasionally roar… but he’s still cute, right?

Catmandu Sanctuary

Wizard101 is definitely on a roll with creating beautiful Castles lately. The Peppergrass Glen was stunning, and now the Catmandu Sanctuary is equally as amazing. When I first stepped into this house, I was honestly blown away! Similar to the Catmandu area in Novus, the area feels calm, bright, and peaceful. There is plenty of open outdoor space to play with, as well as lots of indoor space as well. Alongside the Castle, you also receive an Additional Castle Elixir, in case you’ve hit your Castles limit. Let’s take a tour!

Upon entering the house, you are immediately greeted by a panoramic view of the entire castle. The space opens up into a beautiful garden area, with various buildings on the left and right. To the left, you can climb a small hill towards a private pond, and my favourite area of the house. Follow the paths to explore all the hidden areas of the castle. Unusually, there is no battle circle for PvP in this castle. The entire outside space is beautifully designed, and definitely left me itching to decorate!

As is the trend in recent bundle Castles, instead of one house, you get five smaller indoor spaces to decorate. The inside houses are all very similar in design, and only vary by size. By interacting with the magic yarn in each indoor space, you can teleport to any other!

Daily Reward and Fishing

As has become the usual with bundle houses, we can expect some extra daily rewards for visiting them. We also know that fake walls and secret passageways are a Wizard101 speciality! If you can find the secret passageway that takes you to the building at the top of the mountain, you may find a familiar-looking face. The Sacred Yarn Acolyte will give you a small amount of gold, treasure cards, reagents, or seeds every day.

There is also a gorgeous fishing spot nearby surrounded by cherry trees, where you can find lots of fish to add to your collection. The most important is the house-exclusive fish, the Cat Monk Doodlefish. He is Fire, Rank 2, and offers 1,400 fishing XP on the first catch.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am a big fan of this bundle. Whilst I don’t usually go for bundles because of gear stats, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Sacred Yarn gear. I’m a sucker for cute designs, so the pet and mount are fast favourites. For me, the best feature has got to be the new house. I can see myself spending a lot of time and gold to decorate here! Finally, let’s take a look at the stunning concept art for this bundle, courtesy of Adam Roush.
