Back to Basics Spell Ideas: Life

Welcome once again to another spell idea article! In celebration of Wizard101’s ten year anniversary, I designed some spells that revamp some familiar mechanics with some unique twists. We are going back to the basics with a new blade, shield and convert for each of the 7 main schools of magic.

Much as all the original blades, shields and converts were 0 pips, these new spells will all be 1 pip to reflect their increased power. Today we will be introducing the Life school version of these spells. All cards created with Legends of The Spiral’s Card Creator!

  • Name: Triple Antibiotic
  • Type: Positive Charm (Blade)
  • Accuracy: 100%
  • Cost: 1 pip

Description: +25% life damage, +25% heal and +25% life critical to next spells

Explanation: A triple blade along the same lines as elemental and spirit blades, this spell instead boosts damage, heal and critical for the life wizard or his/her target.

  • Name: Energy Shield
  • Type: Positive Ward (Shield)
  • Accuracy: 100%
  • Cost: 1 pip

Description: Absorb 800 damage for 1 round. Each consecutive cast increases the amount of time it lasts by 2 rounds.

Explanation: A unique kind of absorb. Instead of being broken by attacks, this absorb lingers a certain number of rounds then disappears. The first time you cast it lasts one round, the second time 3 rounds, third time 5 rounds etc.

  • Name: Shadow of the Land
  • Type: Manipulation
  • Accuracy: 100%
  • Cost: 1 pip

Description: Convert a shadow pip into a guardian spirit or vice versa on any target. Has a 50% chance of failing.

Explanation: An extremely powerful conversion spell. This spell allows you to deny an opponent a shadow pip, give yourself a shadow pip or any variety of combinations. As this is an extremely potent effect especially for such a low cost, the spell has a built in 50% fail rate. This means about half the time you cast this spell it wont work.

  • Does the Energy Shield ward absorb 800 from each attack while it is up, or 800 total?

  • Shouldn’t you just give Shadow of the Land 50% Accuracy then?

    • Then you would undo the accuracy reduction with accuracy gear

  • I hope Life gets a stronger single hit and aoe like the other schools soon too.

  • The Life spells are my favorite so far 🙂 Really looking forward to Myth though!

  • Love the creativity! I’d definitely use the blades. My initial thought on SotL is yes, I understand it needs a drawback, but 50% failure is a bit hard to swallow for a school used to never fizzling. Not quite the same, but for folks with a low risk profile — that might make it less popular.
