Grizzleheim Lore Spells
Crafting Recipes

The Summer 2020 update brought with it crafting recipes for each of the Grizzleheim lore spells. This means that we can now craft the Storm spell Hammer of Thor, the myth spell Grendel’s Amends, and most remarkably the life Ratatoskr’s Spin spell. Previously, these three spells were exclusively available in the Grizzleheim Lore Pack, but now they are craftable and available as drops via spellements from King Borr in Grizzleheim.

Ratatoskr’s Spin

Grendel’s Amends

Hammer of Thor

Below, we will go through all their crafting recipes and detail the sources for each reagent you will need. Before delving further into that, you will need to get your hands on the recipes. They can be obtained from Grady in Avalon’s The Wyrd.

However, in order to be able to purchase the recipe you will also need the Legendary Artisan crafting rank which you unlock in Zafaria. This means that the spells cannot be crafted before you reach the world of Zafaria. This is bad news for life wizards, as Ratatoskr’s Spin would be quite handy to have in lower level worlds.

However, you still have the option to farm the Loremaster for free or purchase the pack in the Crown Shop for a chance to get these spells before Zafaria. Let’s get to the spell recipes now!

Ratatoskr’s Spin Crafting Recipe

10 Ratatoskr’s Spin

120 Peridot
200 Black Coal
150 Agave Nectar
45 Nickel
225 Iron
25 Frost Flower
25 Amber

Recipe Purchase Cost – 12,000 Gold

Ratatoskr’s Spin Reagent Sources

Ratatoskr’s Spin Treasure Cards – obtainable as a drop from the Grizzleheim Lore Pack or the Loremaster in Dragonspyre’s Atheneum.

Peridot – purchased from reagent vendors in Wizard City, Krokotopia, Marleybone, Wysteria and Mooshu.

Black Coal – purchased from most reagent vendors throughout the Spiral.

Agave Nectar – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • harvested from Alto Alto, Mangrove Marsh and Cloudburst Forest in Azteca, Kondha Desert in Khrysalis, Castle Darkmoor and more;
  • transmuted from 15 Agave Leaves (recipe obtained from Alto Alto in Azteca);
  • gardened from ultra seeds including Ultra King Parsley and Ultra Fly Trap;
  • opening Silver Chests in several areas of Azteca including Zultun Dock;
  • bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets by the Arena;
  • dropped from higher level creatures (Azteca and beyond).

Nickel – most creatures in the Spiral can drop this reagent. You might at times find it in the Bazaar since it isn’t really rare and players will certainly get plenty from questing. Can also be transmuted from Copper reagents (recipe from Torald Wayfinder in Grizzleheim).

Iron – most creatures in the Spiral can drop this reagent. It can also be transmuted from Pyrite reagents (recipe from Torald Wayfinder in Grizzleheim).

Frost Flower – found in most areas of Grizzleheim and Wintertusk as well as a common drop from many creatures.

Amber – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • gardened from ultra seeds including Ultra King Parsley and Ultra Helephant Ears;
  • bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets by the Arena;
  • dropped from higher level creatures such as Cronus and Gladiator Dimachaerus in Aquila
  • transmuted using the recipe obtained from Shane in The Wild area in Avalon. Recipe requires the following reagents.
5 Merle’s Whisker

5 Amber Dust

15 Sunstone

10 Golden Pearl

Reagent Gathering Tips

  • Farming Gladiator Dimachaerus and/or Cronus is an effective way at getting both Amber and Agave Nectar.
  • An amazing alternative to farming for reagents is gardening. This is evident with Ultra King Parsley, which drops both Agave Nectar and Amber at mature harvest. I recommend ignoring the needs when the UKP is nearly elder so that it starts to wither. As soon as it starts to wither, give it the needs it requires and it will restart its journey to elder. Letting it go to elder is a waste, since you might not get another seed back.
  • From my experience, Agave Nectar is quite popular in Silver Chests in Azteca, but most specifically in Zultun Dock.
  • Keep an eye out for Nickel and Iron in the Bazaar, but apart from that you can get them fairly easily by defeating random creatures.

Grendel’s Amends Crafting Recipe

10 Grendel’s Amends

120 Perfect Jade
200 Perfect Sapphire
60 Shell
50 Flying Squid Ink
150 Diamond
220 Cat Tail
25 Amber

Recipe Purchase Cost – 12,000 Gold

Grendel’s Amends Reagent Sources

Grendel’s Amends Treasure Cards – obtainable as a drop from the Grizzleheim Lore Pack or the Loremaster in Dragonspyre’s Atheneum.

Perfect Jade & Perfect Sapphire – purchased from most reagent vendors throughout the Spiral.

Shell – found in most areas in Celestia, and can also be transmuted with 10 Scrap Iron.

Flying Squid Ink – only creatures in Empyrea can drop this reagent. Several side quests also reward you with this reagent upon completion. Take a look at this detailed guide including details about the Secret Tunnel instance in Empyrea. Additionally, it is also found in fishing chests throughout the Heavenly Palace and Massive Fantasy Palace castles. You can easily find these through Castle Tours in the Wizard City Commons.

Diamond – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • found in many areas throughout the Spiral as a rare drop from Ore reagents;
  • transmuted from 15 Ore reagents;
  • gardened from King Parsley;
  • gardened from ultra seeds including Ultra Helephant Ears and Ultra Trumpet Vine
  • bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets by the Arena.

Cat Tail – found in most worlds of the Spiral right next to ponds or other water sources. This includes fountains in Marleybone and ponds in Mooshu.

Amber – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • gardened from ultra seeds including Ultra King Parsley and Ultra Helephant Ears;
  • bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets by the Arena;
  • dropped from higher level creatures such as Cronus and Gladiator Dimachaerus in Aquila;
  • transmuted using the recipe obtained from Shane in The Wild area in Avalon. Recipe requires the following reagents.
5 Merle’s Whisker

5 Amber Dust

15 Sunstone

10 Golden Pearl

Reagent Gathering Tips

  • Farming Gladiator Dimachaerus and/or Cronus is an effective way at getting Amber and Diamonds.
  • An amazing alternative to farming for reagents is gardening. Regular King Parsley is a decent source for Diamonds at mature harvest. At ultra harvest, you may also get Amber, but it is only a small chance. Apart from that, make sure to grow any Ultra King Parsley you get from the King Parsley, as they can drop Amber as early as mature stage. However, don’t let Ultra King Parsley get to elder as you most likely won’t get a seed back. See the above sections for details on how to accomplish this
  • Flying Squid Ink is a slightly more common drop in the Secret Tunnel instance in Empyrea, as all battles have a chance at getting you one.
  • Cat Tail can be found en masse in fountains all over Marleybone including Regents Square, Digmoore Station and Hyde Park.
  • Make sure to get the transmute recipe for Diamonds as you are going to need a lot!

Hammer of Thor Crafting Recipe

10 Hammer of Thor

120 Perfect Amethyst

200 Simple Vial

60 Comet Tail

40 Silver

60 Scrap Iron

50 Sunstone

25 Amber

Recipe Purchase Cost – 12,000 Gold

Hammer of Thor Reagent Sources

Hammer of Thor Treasure Cards – obtainable as a drop from the Grizzleheim Lore Pack or the Loremaster in Dragonspyre’s Atheneum.

Perfect Amethyst & Simple Vial – purchased from most reagent vendors throughout the Spiral.

Comet Tail – easily found in several areas in Khyrsalis and Empyrea.

Silver – most creatures in the Spiral can drop this reagent. You might at times find it in the Bazaar as it isn’t really rare and you players get many from questiong. Can also be bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets.

Scrap Iron – found in most worlds of the Spiral, but mainly in Marleybone areas (‘industrial’ areas). Try Counterweight East and West in the Royal Museum, so you can easily enter, collect, leave and re-enter the dungeon.

Sunstone – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • collected as rare harvest from Sandstone reagents in different maps including Khrysalis’ Kondha Desert, and Mirage’s Caravan, Alkali Barrows, Caterwaul Canyons and Rubal Wastes
  • purchased for arena tickets from Brandon Mistborn by the arena
  • possible harvest from gardening Evil Magma Peas, Deadly Helephant Ears and King Parsley
  • obtained as a drop from battles in higher level worlds.

Amber – can be obtained through many different ways including:

  • gardened from ultra seeds including Ultra King Parsley and Ultra Helephant Ears
  • bought from Brandon Mistborn for arena tickets by the Arena
  • dropped from higher level creatures such as Cronus and Gladiator Dimachaerus in Aquila
  • transmuted using the recipe obtained from Shane in The Wild area in Avalon. The recipe requires the following reagents:
5 Merle’s Whisker

5 Amber Dust

15 Sunstone

10 Golden Pearl

Reagent Gathering Tips

  • An amazing alternative to farming for reagents is gardening. This is evident with Ultra King Parsley, which drops  Amber at mature harvest. I recommend ignoring the needs when the UKP is nearly elder so that it starts to wither. As soon as it starts to wither, give it the needs it requires and it will restart its journey to elder. Letting it go to elder is a waste, since you might not get another seed back.

You can also garden regular King Parsley, as it will get you Sunstone, which you also need for this recipe.

  • An alternative way at obtaining Sunstone is to harvest Sandstone reagents in specific maps. Personally, I like to look in Kondha Desert. There is a chance you can get a Sunstone from a harvest, but once you get 15 sandstone you can transmute them into a Sunstone.
  • Keep an eye out for Silver in the Bazaar, but apart from that you can get them by defeating random creatures.
  • Farming Gladiator Dimachaerus and/or Cronus is an effective way at getting Amber.

With his main focus in Wizard101 PvE, you will find Cody knee deep fighting one of the Spiral's major bosses with an army of wizards at his disposal. Proficient in quite a few other areas of the game such as gardening, fishing, and most of all monstrology. Why monstrology? He chases after every single creature out there and catalogs them for all to see!

  • i think they need a different way besides weeks of lore farming to get the tc’s, they still seem so pay to win

  • Under the Ratatoskr’s Spin tips tab: agave nectar only drops from UKP at elder. I don’t think there are any gardenable sources of agave except for ultra plants which only drop them at elder.

  • How do you obtain the TC’s?

    • Everything is listed in the Reagent Sources tab. At the moment, either as a drop from Loremaster or a chance from the pack.

  • squid ink comes in chests from Heavenly Palace and Massive Fantasy Palace. I checked the wiki.

    • I think there Need s to be a better drop rate on the tc 100 empowers are too much for exchange og one of thpse tc

  • these guides are extremely helpful, thank you
