Wizard101 Novus Gear Guide

Wizard101’s latest world, Novus, presents multiple new sets of gear and multiple ways to get them. Unlike past worlds, Novus takes multiple new approaches in both gear options and obtainability. With both a dropped set, a crafted set, and two gear set upgrades players will have lots of options to choose from after completing this world.

Gear options

There are 4 total Tier 1 gear sets offered by the Novus Update at level 160. Two gear sets are directly acquired from Novus and they are the Aeon and Eternal sets. The Aeon set is the traditional farmed option that players typically expect from each world. The Eternal set is a crafted exclusive set. The other two gear sets are upgrades to previous gear, The Voracious Void Raid Gear sets that originate from the Raid but require Novus farming to obtain the level 160 variants. For those familiar with the 2022 Raid, these are the Nullity and the Void sets.

Farming Novus Gear

The Aeon set requires a lot of farming for each piece as gear drops are not restricted to your school. Each boss listed and depicted below drops a specific piece of gear for the Aeon or Masterpiece set.

The Masterpiece set is a weaker tiered version of the Aeon set that serves as a way for players to craft the Aeon gear. Players are able to farm these bosses for the Aeon gear without worrying about the Masterpiece set, but in an effort to curve the grind, the Aeon gear can be crafted with 9 pieces of of masterpiece gear for each respected gear piece. The crafting method has been adjusted to serve as a pity system to keep players from infinitely grinding in rare cases.

Crafting Novus Gear

After many worlds Novus has returned the long standing tradition of providing exclusive stats via crafted gear. In many of the Arc 1 and 2 worlds numerous vendors provide recipes for gear that ranges from mild or best in slot. It’s great to see the return of unique crafted gear as the last memorable instance of this was Khrysalis. In arc 3 and 4 worlds, crafting essentially became the way for players to get the gear when rng drops didn’t get the job done. This method has also been baked into the Novus gear acquisition.

Novus Gear Recipes

Crafting the Aeon gear will require 9 masterpiece pieces of the same gear type but they can be for any school. Pixels and Polygons, the reagents introduced in Novus, are also required for crafting. Polygons can be harvested in all areas of Novus and Pixels are largely procured from the same bosses that drop masterpiece gear.

Eternal gear can be crafted using a piece of Aeon gear of the same type and the same school. In other words, a Storm Aeon hat is used to craft a Storm Eternal hat. While the Eternal gear is exclusive to crafting, the Novus Explorer pack gear has the exact same stats for players who may want to speed up their gear progression.

Raid Gear Upgrades

Level 150 raid gear can be upgraded in the guild house after players collect both the original level 150 piece of gear from the raid and the corresponding amounts of pixels and polygons from Novus. Typically all Novus related recipes require 20 polygons and then depending on the piece  a good amount of pixels ranging from 30-70 of said reagent.

Novus Gear Templates

A quick reminder on how the gear templates work. Each set prioritizes the 3 stat attributes. For example, Aeon is Offense 1, Defense 2 and Utility 3. This means the set will largely cater to offense and defensive stats. The table below outlines what each Novus gear set may offer as players pursue diverse gear builds.

      The Aeon gear seems to have no shadow rating whatsoever, would this completely change battle tactics or does the overwhelming damage just nullify the need for shadow pips

        I’ll second that. Ice has not dropped once in over 50 fights there for the robe. My life and balance are all decked out. Would just love to get a look at there code.

      For the ice robes, you accidentally gave us pictures of the raid gear hats instead of the robes. Just figured you may want to be aware of that.
