Wizard101 PvP Rhoshambo Spells


Author’s Note 1/12/2023: Spells have been updated to mirror all changes made during the Fall 2022 Spell Audit. Balance spells have not been audited yet and still work the same.

As test realm progresses, more and more changes have arrived. Although there was uncertainty when we’d see them, the Rhoshambo Spells are finally available for testing! Check them out down below and take your time admiring all the amazing card art!

Rhoshambo Rumble


For those who have been keeping up, we’ve seen lots of changes moving in and out of test realm. It’s important to note that as this article is written, test realm is still ongoing and it is unknown how many of these spells are finalized. Before checking out the spells, let’s first recap what Rhoshambo means.

The Recap

The Rhoshambo spells follow the Rhoshambo wheel. This wheel helps dictate how each school should interact with each other and where each school can pull different abilities from others. The Rhoshambo wheel below shows Balance in the middle, a clear neutral. Next up are the spirit schools with Life besting Myth, Myth defeating Death, and Death ending Life. Similarly, Fire conquers Ice, Ice blocks Storm, and Storm destroys Fire. For more in-depth analysis of the Rhoshambo Wheel check out our previous article here.

Rhoshambo Availability

Excited to get your new spells? Each school professor is waiting with 7 new Rhoshambo PvP Spells for each class. These spells are Advanced Combat Only and cannot currently be used in PvE. These spells do work in the Raids. The first of these spells can be trained at level 40. These would be the Scion Ramps, or the utility spells that can help set up the Scion gambit condition. Scion spells mirror their PvE counterparts and require players to be level 120. Furthermore, the PvE version must be learned before the new ones can be trained. The Jinn Gambit and Ramp spells are available at level 70. And last but not least, the Oni spells are trainable at level 100. This was changed recently to better match up with pvp leagues. The Balance Oni gambit and ramp are available at level 120.

In addition to learning your own schools spells, the majority of these spells can be trained by any school. The requirement for all of them is each school’s level 33 trained spell which is also found on each school’s professor. That means anyone wanting to train the Rhoshambo spells will have to train 8 additional spells and really dive into a secondary school. The exception to this is the Scion spells which require the PvE version of the spell to learn the PvP version. The PvE version is acquired during the Empyrea questline. And now for the spells!

Fire Rhoshambo Spells

Scion of Fire


  • Pip Cost: 9
  • Level: 120

  • Spell Description: 1200 protected Fire DOT; 1700 Fire damage if 2 Damage Over Times are on target; PvP Only.

Meltdown


  • Pip Cost: 3
  • Level: 40
  • Trainer: Dalia Falmea
  • Pre-requisite: Phoenix
  • Spell Description: Remove 3 protected positive wards on target for Chromatic DOT on target; PvP Only.
    • Notes:
      • Remove 1 – 60 damage over 4 rounds
      • Remove 2 – 120 damage over 4 rounds
      • Remove 3 – 180 damage over 4 rounds
      • Chromatic DOT will place a dot that matches the caster’s school.

Backfire


  • Pip Cost: 3
  • Level: 40
  • Trainer: Dalia Falmea
  • Pre-requisite: Phoenix
  • Spell Description: Remove 3 protected negative wards from self for Chromatic DOT on target; PvP Only.
    • Notes:
      • Remove 1 – 60 damage over 4 rounds
      • Remove 2 – 120 damage over 4 rounds
      • Remove 3 – 180 damage over 4 rounds
      • Chromatic DOT will place a dot that matches the caster’s school.

Caldera Jinn


  • Pip Cost: 9
  • Level: 70

  • Spell Description: 1080 Fire protected DOT; 2000 fire damage if 4 negative wards are cleared from target; PvP Only.
    • Note: Gambit will clear condition before buffs and debuffs are activated.

Jinn’s Reversal

  • Spell Description: Remove 3 negative wards on self for universal negative wards on target; PvP Only.
    • Note: Wards created by this spell are universal DOT Traps (40%).

Infernal Oni

Macabre Jinn

Duststorm Jinn


  • Pip Cost: 9

  • Spell Description: 255 Fire, Ice, and Storm Damage; x2 damage if 2 over times are on self or target; PvP Only.
    • Note: Overtime spells must match and be on the same player; The combinations are 2 HOTs on self, 2 DOTs on self, 2 HOTs on target, or 2 DOTs on target. All other combinations will not meet the gambit condition.

Jinn’s Fortune


  • Pip Cost: 3
  • Level: 70
  • Trainer: Alhazred
  • Pre-requisite: Donate Power
  • Spell Description: Remove 3 HOTs on target for Balance DOTs on target; Remove 3 DOTs on self for HOTs on self; PvP Only.
    • Note: Overtimes created by this spell behave the same. 1st OT will last 3 rounds, 2nd 4 rounds, 3rd 5 rounds. DOTs will have 60 total damage, and HOTs will have 120 total health.

Tribunal Oni


  • Pip Cost: 7
  • Level: 120
  • Trainer: Alhazred
  • Pre-requisite: Donate Power
  • Spell Description: 190 Myth, Death, and Life Damage; x2 damage if target has 2 shadow pips; PvP Only.

Oni’s Shadow


  • Pip Cost: 3
  • Level: 120
  • Trainer: Alhazred
  • Pre-requisite: Donate Power
  • Spell Description: Target and caster gain 1 shadow pip and lose 2 pips; PvP Only.

But Wait, There’s More.. SPELLS

Lots of options to choose from, but that’s not all. In addition to the PvP Rhoshambo spells, two more spells were added with this update that are also PvP Only. These spells are not strictly Rhoshambo spells but they heavily tie into each schools ability to satisfy certain gambit conditions.

Hunting Wyrm


  • Pip Cost: 5
  • Level: 28
  • Trainer: Moolinda Wu
  • Pre-requisite: Regenerate
  • Spell Description: 150 Life damage and 320 Life DOT over 4 rounds to target; 150 health and 320 HOT over 4 rounds to self; PvP Only. 

 

Threefold Fever


  • Pip Cost: 2
  • Level: 0
  • Trainer: Dworgyn
  • Pre-requisite: Infection
  • Spell Description: -50% to next 3 healing spells; PvP Only.

  • Any gambit spell that consumes blades DOES count the consumed blades (if they apply to that spell) as buffs. For example, if a Storm scion consumed an set of Elemental Blades, it would count it for the gambit if it consumed at least 4 blades and count the storm blade from that elemental blade towards the buff. Same thing goes for other blade gambits like the Death Jinn and Life Oni.

    Trap gambits, however, do not count any traps that are consumed as buffs, which is correctly stated here for those spells. Just tested all of this and it is also apparently intentional.
