Wizard101 Fishing Luck Remastered
Fishing can actually be a great activity for avid PvPers. Ever had to de-stress from a match? Just having a bad PvP day? Well, head on over to the nearest pond and relax for a bit. Of course being as competitive as we all are you will soon want “to catch them all”. This guide will help you maximize you fishing time. Our other guide will help you find them all! In this article, we will not be discussing the theory behind the actual calculation of fishing luck, but what/where and how to get a boost to your fishing luck.
What is Fishing Luck?
As with most things wizard related, no one truly knows exactly how it works, however, we do know that it increases the chances of snagging a fish! Once you lure in a fish, fishing luck will make it more likely to stay on that magical hook and not run away. It is important to note that it does not increase or change the actual fish in a pond, nor will it make that Epic fish suddenly appear.
How does this help? Since it does increase the chances of the fish staying hooked, it can often enable you to use a Rank 1 lure on a Rank 2 or 3 fish. This can be very handy when you are a lower level fisher and do not have access to the higher ranked lures yet. It also helps in making sure those Epic fish do not run away when you finally find them (definitely use the right Rank Lure for these).
How do I get more Fishing Luck?
There are four ways you can increase your fishing luck here in the spiral; Elixirs, Gear, Jewels, and Pets. Below we will go over each option.
1) Elixirs
The crowns shop sells major and minor fishing luck elixirs. The Major Fishing Luck elixir will increase your fishing luck by 50% for 1 hour and sells for 250 crowns. The Mega Fishing Luck elixir will increase your fishing luck by 50% for 3 hours and sells for 400 crowns.
With the introduction of the Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet, you can actually snag a free 33% for one hour fishing luck elixir which you will receive upon completing the gauntlet. If you or one of your friends has this gauntlet, it is a great option. The elixir will be awarded to you every time you complete the gauntlet and you can only have one active at a time.
2) Gear
3) Jewels
Cracked Fishing Luck Opals range in value from 1% to 5%. They are a Tear shaped jewel and require you to be level 15+ to equip. You can equip up to four (4) of these using an athame, amulet, ring and deck with Tear sockets. This can give you a total of a 20% fishing luck increase!
The 1%, 2%, and 3% jewels can most notably be found in fishing chests throughout the spiral, school jewel packs, as well as a potential drop from the housing item, Bountiful Mine. The 3%, 4% and much coveted 5% fishing luck jewels also drop from the Tear Jewel Blossom plant. The Tear Jewel Blossom plant is probably the easiest way to get them.
4) Pets
When it comes to pets and fishing luck, the only talents that are currently available are the Fishing Luck and the Epic Fishing Luck talents.
The Fishing Luck talents is only available on these first generation pets:
- First Mate Otter
- Blood Hound
- Royal Ibis
- Calixco Kitten
The Epic Fishing Luck talents is only available on these first generation pets:
- Dark Scaryonette
- Light Merryonette
- Drama Llama
- Squirreligig
Our suggestion is to somehow get these talents on a Dapper Corgi due to the additional (+8) energy. If you are having difficulty finding a pet with the right talents, remember there is always the Hatchmaking Kiosk in Pet Pavilion. Alternatively, you could try going for the Fishing Luck Opal that is an occasional reward from the Daily Assignments from Aegon Statz.
The total amount of fishing luck you can currently achieve is 105%.
